Seaman Echosounders: Effective Tools for Efficient and Sustainable Fishing

At the next edition of Navalia, Seaman Europa will present its latest innovation. The FMF-900 echosounder, a revolutionary tool designed to boost professional fishing in an efficient and sustainable way. In a context marked by climate change impacting marine ecosystems, marine species are adapting their behavior and migration patterns. Faced with this challenge, having advanced fishing equipment becomes essential. The use of echosounders has proven to be a key strategy for sustainable fishing. It allows vessel captains to set their nets selectively, focusing on specific areas where the target species is found. This not only reduces bycatch and minimizes waste, but also optimizes resources and reduces the operating costs associated with fishing.Seaman Europa’s latest launch, the FMF-900 echosounder, is a milestone in this regard. It is a broadband echosounder capable of transmitting CHIRP pulses, specially designed for inshore vessels, purse seiners and trawlers, with the aim of making fishing work easier and better. This new model has been developed based on users’ daily needs and requirements.
It offers an intuitive experience that maximizes efficiency and sustainability. The Seaman echosounder provides detailed information on the location and distribution of species, as well as data on fish size, using Dual Beam technology, a simplified version of the model used in the Split Beam version of the FMF-1000. It also offers information on bottom hardness and roughness, as well as biomass estimation. This data allows captains to make informed and strategic decisions during their fishing operations. The Seaman echosounder is currently on board a large fleet of vessels operating in various seas around the world. These units will be assembled at the company’s facilities in Nigrán, Galicia, and exported to both European and Asian markets.

Carlos Saumell highlights the importance of this production center, which guarantees the availability of equipment and spare parts for local distributors. He also announces special introductory market prices and free seminars for users and distributors, aimed at familiarizing them with the advantages of the FMF-900 and making this new technology easier to access.
Those attending the Navalia fair will have the opportunity to visit the Seaman Europa stand, where they can learn more about its echosounders and talk with its managers and developers.About Seaman Europa:
